New Stuff

And another month lacking new posts passed in an instant. After maxing out the monthly upload limit with some boring pictures last month, I had to wait till I could post some awesome pictures of my very own EVA-01 figurine from Japan. I even had to pick it up at the local customs office, which is about an hour away if you have to rely on public transportation. For those who have never had anything to do with customs let me describe the procedure. The postman gives you a slip of paper on which you find the address of the customs office where you have to go and some information on what to bring with you (money, invoice). At the office you have to open your parcel and the clerk looks at the contents and wants to know their value. Somehow these people seem to be unaware of the fact, that the value is declared on the outside of the parcel on special sticker. If that value exceeds some limit (I think 20€ or something) you have to pay tax and duty. The clerk takes an awful long time calculating these things, filling out forms and printing them out. After that he takes you to the cashier, because it would be to simple if you could give him the money directly. So you have to give it to a person whose only job is to receive money and hand out change through one of these cashier windows with mic, speaker and drawer. After that you are free to go and have fun with your imported goods.
