my combined anime rss feed

During the weekend I did some Perl "programming". I'm a lazy guy and I was tired of visiting several anime torrent sites or reading their feeds from day to day. So I created one big rss feed which combines the 3 biggest anime torrent sites and 2 smaller ones. The small ones didn't even have a rss feed, but my Perl skills got rid of this little problem. :) The feed for point-blank.cc can be accessed here, it is updated every two hours. The rss feed for anime-jiyuu is available here and is updated while executing the script.

OMG WTF LOL

So, last night was the annual Eurovision Song Contest. And Lordi pwnd it! That's the first time for Finland to win the contest, I guess the Finns made the right choice. We can all learn from that. ;)

The Japanese really know how to please nerds. As if 24/7 internet cafes weren't enough, they created the "Gran Cyber Cafes", places full of solitary "pods" loaded with everything you need to satisfy your media cravings. Access to a huge manga library is included aswell. You can stay there as long as you can afford it, although the staff will remind you that it's not a hotel. But some places even offer showers and sell fresh underwear.

2nd Birthday

Wow, two years of blogging already. And I nearly missed the anniversary again. Thanks to Soryu who reminded me. :) From my point of view time just flew by and not much happened. I'm studying electrical engineering now and have left the old Nerdcave to my little brother for a flat of my own.

My projects have not progressed as much as I have. The backlit Gameboy is waiting for completion. My LEGO media center is running just fine with the recently added DVB-T card and still Freevo version 1.5. Last weekend I read up on some perl modules regarding parsing html and creating rss feeds, so expect some changes to the point-blank.cc-rss, the hd trailers page and perhaps the torrent search.

I just received information from a trusted source that Telltale Games will be producing an ongoing series of episodic Sam & Max games.. From the site: "Season 1 will debut this fall at GameTap and on Telltale's site with short, punchy episodes released in rapid succession, each telling a self-contained story, all the while feeding into a grander season-wide arc. If this sounds kind of familiar, don't be alarmed. Look over at your television for a second and think about how TV seasons work. (To make the analogy sweeter, try and concentrate on the good shows.)"

The weather was really nice today, so I spent the lunchbreak with my ThinkPad at a sunny wifi "hotspot" on the campus. If you sit in the plain sun for two hours, your skin will of course respond accordingly. This inspired me to take a picture for our new campaign "Get a Life". Surprisingly my right arm did not change it's color.

I'm sure you know about Apple's "Get a Mac" campaign. They have new ads now, showcasing the differences between a PC and a Mac in a rather comedic way. We have something similar here at the Nerdcave, called "Get a Life". Like everyone else we start with the breakfast.
