more scraping

This time I chose the Apple movie trailer sites to create a nice download list with all the HD trailers. My script is not perfect yet, it still misses some urls. (for example MI3, which is the only trailer site using a different layout). I think I'll update the download list whenever I feel it is necessary. ;) And now "Happy Leeching".

*Update*: added "sort -f" to the script

scraping point-blank.cc

Inspired by this article on NewsForge, I created a little script to parse/scrape the torrent listing from point-blank.cc and create rss compatible output, since they seem to be unable to provide a feed. My "feed" is avaible here and is updated daily. The timeformat used by point-blank is very ugly, so I decided to use "date -R" for the "pubDate" field. If you want to see my script you will have to ask for it, since I consider it extremly ugly and hackish and am to embarassed to post it here. ;)

a new chimaera was born

What do you do if you have too much spare LEGO bricks and the interior of a vintage Nintendo console (because you needed the case for your macmini) lying around? Well this guy merged them. He built a LEGO case for his NES. It even looks exactly the same as the original case. That's one of the best LEGO cases I have ever seen. If I hadn't used most of my bricks to build this htpc, I would start right away with a SNES case. I really do envy him for having so many bricks! (Donations are very welcome ;)

「ニンテンドーDS Lite」発売。秋葉原では2店舗に集中し、前夜から行列

Hah! A japanese headline! I'm such an Otaku. *G* The weekly play-asia newsletter pointed me to this collection of fotos which were taken the night, the Nintendo DS Lite was released in Japan. I don't understand the article, but I suppose most of them where taken in Akihabara. It's quite amazing how many people (male _and_ female) queued up to be the first ones to receive this stylish new handeld, although it's just a minor hardware and design update. I'm still happy with my first generation model, but when Nintendo releases a black Lite matching the black Revolution my aesthethic self is obliged to switch. :)

I'm not the only one...

..who doesn't really know what to write to attract more readers. Seems like A.J. from Userfriendly has similar problems. This weeks series of strips is strangely not the only one with which I can identify or which relates somehow to The Nerdcave. You'll find the other pretty easily. ;)
