freedom

yesterday was my last day of work as zivildienstleistender (a person who fullfils his civil service in germany). i am now officially unemployed and enjoying my newly recovered freetime. in the next few month i have to find a university to study electrical engineering at and attend a 6 week intership at some company working in the technical field in my region.

pimp my workplace

when i came home after work last saturday a new media-markt brochure was waiting for me on the kitchen table. i flapped through it and spotted a fujitsu 15inch tft for just 149EUR. i was waiting for a bargain like this for about 3 months, because i somehow needed two more tfts (you will later see why), so i decided to pay media-markt a visit. when i arrived in the monitor section of the store i was really disappointed, the monitor looked just plain ugly. it was silver and the frame was around 4cm wide and round. but i looked around and quickly found a nice little benq tft for the same price, but with a nice narrow black frame. some clerk was approaching me and i asked him if it was possible to try them out before i buy them. of course was it possible! so i went off to the cashpoint with my two new monitors. here's a picture of my pimped workplace. :)

something's going on in sesame street

those funny americans are finally recognizing that child obesity is a big problem. first mcd started sellings salad and stuff (at least here in germany, but i think they do it in america too) and now my favourite furry friend the cookie monster starts eating vegetables and fruits. he even has a new song called "a cookie is a sometimes food", perhaps we should now call him "lesser cookie monster" or "sometimes cookie monster". however i doubt this step will be of success. i wonder when the german sesame street makers adopt the change. child obesity is starting to get bigger and fatter every year over here. but theres one special thing in the german sesame street the americans don't have: a fat (gay) wizard. if the sesame street wants to help educate children and lead them to a healthier life they should not put bad role models on screen. iirc in brazil they inform the children about hiv, which is in my opinion not a bad idea if the general audience would be above the age of 10 and not around 3-7.
